I've been going to Sulphur Springs for years. I always loved it down there, but the place has gone down hill. The owners have not been keeping the place presentable at all. The bathrooms are disgusting, there are at least 50 cats running around, wasps all over the buildings, and the owner is not welcoming at all. We were there for less than an hour and he made it a point to yell at all the kids for nothing really. His only rule for me was that my camper had to be parked straight in one spot. So, I pulled it in so the doors for both campers would face each other. (We were the only people there). He waited until it was all set up and then told me I had to turn it around or "everything would get fuuweeet"! Whatever that means.... So we packed up and went to Barefoot Creek. There, we had a nice weekend where the only rules were 10 pm quite hours, no alcohol visible, and no driving in the river. She even let us put the tents with the camper and use the electricity. At sulphur springs, they had to be a mile down the road in primative camping. We wound up saving lots of money for a much nicer place and better river access. Don't waste your money at Sulphur Springs. Make reservations at Barefoot instead. You will thank me for this...I promise!
Camp “cop” killed it for me. Said the camp 6 camps away called in to report us for playing bags. If you want to be harassed for having fun, drinking over age, come here. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all. They gave a buddy a ticket for unloading firewood. Don’t camp here.
My first time going here with a group of 6 adults and 12 kids (ages 6 months to 15yrs) everyone had so much fun. Scenery is gorgeous and the cabins were cozy. There is no cell service, so it was a great getaway. One of the adults go stung by a wasp, when he went to the office, the staff gave him a bottle of wasp spray, very helpful and very polite. Lots of cats, but they didn't bother us, especially at night, when they're are all sort of bugs and creepy crawlies, I'm sure those cats are there for a reason. At night, watch out for scorpions that get in the cabins (it's unavoidable). The pool was freezing (and a bit stinky, sulfur you know)but that hot sun will make you want to take a dip. If you are a big city person, this place is NOT for you
Me and my husband went here for a night and it was so beautiful. We own a small Dodge Dart but the roads were easily accessible. There is a few spots towards the end that I had to put my car in reverse and back out but overall our experience was probably one of the best I have had. The staff was extremely friendly, very curteous and let me borrow their phone as we didn't have service. That was one of my favorite parts, disconnecting from everything. I will be back and will definitely be recommending!!!
I am here now on spring break 2017. Beautiful place, plenty of camping spots on spring break so when I get out without reservation, this is my new go to spot. Can launch a kayak and float down to the state park and pick it up with a vehicle. The staff here has been nothing short of amazing. I lost my keys to my car and they gave me a locksmiths number, let me call long distance, and gave me a cup of coffee to boot. Sweet, helpful folks. The best kinda people here!
